Colorado Rockies reinstate shortstop Trevor Story from the 10-day injured list

Right-handed pitcher Chi Chi González optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque

DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have reinstated shortstop Trevor Story from the 10-day injured list and have optioned right-handed pitcher Chi Chi González to Triple-A Albuquerque.

·        Story, 26, was placed on the injured list on June 20 with a right thumb sprain … made two rehab appearances with Albuquerque over the weekend, going 2-for-6 with two strikeouts … in 72 games this season has batted .294 (87-for-296) with 65 runs, 20 doubles, two triples, 17 home runs, 48 RBI, 27 walks, 86 strikeouts and 12 stolen bases … the 2018 and 2019 All-Star has batted .272 (482-for-1769) with 288 runs, 115 doubles, 15 triples, 105 home runs, 310 RBI, 158 walks, 575 strikeouts and 54 stolen bases in 471 games with Colorado since making his debut in 2016.

·        González, 27, had his contract purchased from Albuquerque on June 25, his first stint on the Rockies’ active roster and his first appearance in the Major Leagues since 2016 … made two starts, going 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA (9.0 IP, 6 ER), six walks and six strikeouts … was signed by the Rockies as a Minor League free agent Dec. 3, 2018 … has gone 4-5 with a 5.66 ERA (76.1 IP, 48 ER), 33 walks and 69 strikeouts in 14 starts with Albuquerque … the Delray Beach, Fla., native made his Major League debut with the Rangers in 2015 and is 4-9 with a 4.69 ERA (86.1 IP, 45 ER), 47 walks and 43 strikeouts in 19 career appearances, 15 starts.

The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
