White Sox place Jimenez & Jones on 10-day injured list

CHICAGO – Prior to today’s game vs. Detroit, the Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Eloy Jiménez (high right ankle sprain) and right-handed pitcher Nate Jones (right elbow inflammation) on the 10-day injured list, both retroactive to April 27, and recalled left-hander Aaron Bummer and right-hander Thyago Vieira from Class AAA Charlotte.

Jiménez, 22, suffered the injury in the third inning of Friday’s victory over the Tigers. He will be re-evaluated in two weeks. Jiménez is hitting .241 (19-79) with two doubles, three home runs, eight RBI and six runs scored over 21 games this season.

 Jones, 33, has gone 0-1 with a 3.48 ERA (4 ER/10.1 IP), 10 strikeouts and two holds over 13 relief appearances this season, his seventh with the Sox.

Bummer, 25, is 0-0 with a 2.35 ERA (2 ER/7.2 IP) and six strikeouts over five appearances with Charlotte this season. He appeared in 67 games with the White Sox over the 2017-18 seasons, posting a 4.36 ERA (26 ER/53.2 IP) and 52 strikeouts.

Vieira, 25, is 2-0 with a 5.00 ERA (5 ER/9.0 IP), seven strikeouts and two saves in seven relief appearances with the Knights in 2019. He also pitched in 16 games with the White Sox in 2018.
