Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto today announced the following medical update on Mariners right-handed pitcher Felix Hernandez and right-handed pitcher David Phelps.
Hernandez was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Saturday, August 5. Phelps was placed on the 10-day disabled list earlier today. Both players underwent testing yesterday in Seattle, and were examined by Mariners Medical Director E. Edward Khalfayan.
Hernandez was diagnosed with bursitis in his right shoulder. He is expected to miss three-to-four weeks.
Phelps was diagnosed with an impingement in his right elbow. He is expected to miss two-to-three weeks.
