Mariners Recall RHP Matt Festa From AAA Tacoma

RHP Chasen Bradford placed on the 10-day Injured List

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster moves:

Matt Festa, RHP, recalled from AAA Tacoma.

Chasen Bradford, RHP, placed on the 10-day injured list with a right forearm strain.

Festa (#67) will be in uniform and available for tonight’s (7:10 pm PT) game against the Houston Astros at T-Mobile Park.

Festa, 26, has appeared in 7 games over 2 stints (Opening Day – April 11 and May 17) with the Mariners this season, posting a 6.00 ERA (6 ER, 9.0 IP) while striking out 6 and walking 5. He was recalled from AAA Tacoma prior to the game on May 17 and struck out 2 over 2.0 innings pitched that night vs. Minnesota. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound right-hander was optioned back to the Rainiers following the game on May 17. In 12 outings with the Rainiers this season, is 0-1 with 2 saves and a 4.40 ERA (7 ER, 14.1 IP) with 19 strikeouts and 6 walks. Over his last 7 games with Tacoma, he has not allowed a run while recording 2 saves, striking out 10, walking 4 and limiting opponents to a .080 (2x25) average against.

Festa had four separate stints with the Mariners in 2018, combining for a 2.16 ERA (2 ER, 8.1 IP) in 8 games, 1 start, while holding opponents scoreless in 6 of 8 appearances. He made his Major League debut with the Mariners on July 14, 2018 at Colorado. He spent most of the 2018 campaign with Double-A Arkansas, where he led the Texas League with 20 saves. He was originally selected by the Mariners in the 7th round of the 2016 MLB Draft out of East Stroudsburg University.

Bradford, 29, was previously on the 10-day Injured List this season, April 9-22, with right shoulder inflammation. He made 2 appearances with the Mariners since being recalled from AAA Tacoma on May 31, allowing 2 runs on a pair of solo home runs while striking out 1 and walking 1 in 3.0 innings pitched. Overall this season with Seattle, he is 1-for-1 in save opportunities with 1 hold in 12 games. The 6-foot-1, 226-pound right-hander has posted a 4.86 ERA (9 ER, 16.2 IP) while striking out 11 and walking 4. He has appeared in 5 games with the Rainiers this season, earning 1 save and posting a 6.75 ERA (4 ER, 5.1 IP), while striking out 2 and walking 3.

Bradford has appeared in parts of 3 Major League season with the Mets (2017) and Mariners (2018-c), compiling a career record of 7-0 with 1 save and a 3.89 ERA (45 ER, 104.0 IP0 with 76 strikeouts and 31 walks in 86 career appearances. He was claimed off waivers by the Mariners from the Mets on Jan. 19, 2018. He was originally selected by the Mets in the 35th round of the 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
