Nationals reinstate Howie Kendrick

April 4th, 2019

The Washington Nationals reinstated infielder Howie Kendrick (left-hamstring strain) from the 10-day injured list and optioned infielder Jake Noll to Triple-A Fresno on Thursday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

Kendrick, 35, missed the first five games of the 2019 season with a left-hamstring strain suffered on March 5. Kendrick returns to action after rupturing his right Achilles tendon on May 19, 2018. At the time of the injury, he was hitting .303 with 14 doubles, four homers, 12 RBI, five walks, one stolen base and 17 runs scored in his first 40 games of 2018.

Since being acquired by the Nationals on July 28, 2017, Kendrick is hitting .297 with a .337 on-base percentage and a .484 slugging percentage in 92 games. He has hit 22 doubles, 11 home runs and 37 RBI while appearing at second base, left field, right field and first base.

Noll, 25, appeared in three games, and helped propel the Nationals to a 9-8 walk-off win on April 3rd vs. Philadelphia.
