Pirates Return to PNC Park for the Seventh Homestand of 2019

The Pirates return to PNC Park for the seventh homestand of the season as the team hosts the Chicago Cubs for four games and the Milwaukee Brewers for a three-game weekend series.

This homestand is highlighted by afternoon baseball on Independence Day, Thursday, July 4; Free Shirt Friday and Dollar Dog Night on Friday, July 5; and Saturday, July 6 is the return of the popular Hawaiian Shirt Day at PNC Park.

Monday, July 1, 2019 -- Pirates vs Chicago Cubs (7:05 p.m.)

Apollo at the Park: As the nation celebrates the 50th anniversary of the July 20, 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing, the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum will place 15 replica statues of Neil Armstrong’s iconic spacesuit in ballparks across the country. The Pirates and PNC Park were chosen as one of those locations and the Pirates will display the suit, starting today and lasting through the remainder of the season, on the PNC Park Riverwalk, behind section 142. The prominent placement of the suit will allow all fans to enjoy the interactive display not just on game days, but off-days as well as the Riverwalk is open to the public most afternoons. Pirates Charities Night on AT&T SportsNet: Tonight, the Pirates are proud to partner with AT&T SportsNet to host the Pirates Charities Night on AT&T SportsNet at PNC Park in the Jim Beam Left Field Lounge and on the PNC Park Riverwalk. The doors open at 5 p.m. and the telecast begins at 6 p.m. Throughout the night, fans will be able to purchase Home Run and Grand Slam Backpacks for $250 and $700, respectively. Each backpack will include a baseball autographed by a Pirates player, a baseball autographed by a Pirates alumnus, and exclusive Pirates-branded items not available anywhere else. Home Run and Grand Slam backpacks can be purchased beginning at 5 p.m., in-person in the Jim Beam Left Field Lounge or on the Riverwalk, and beginning at 5:30 p.m. over the phone by calling (412) 325-4888. Backpacks are available online at pirates.com/pcn beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 1. Proceeds from the Auction will benefit local area youth baseball organizations.

Pup Night: Fans can enjoy Bucco baseball with their pooch as the Pirates present one of 12 Pup Nights at PNC Park. Each ticket package (1 person & 1 dog) costs just $36 with additional human tickets available for $36 each. Pirates Play Ball Team of the Game: The Pirates continue the season-long initiative honoring a youth baseball/softball team of the game during every Tuesday home game. Tonight, the Pirates will honor the Pittsburgh Urban Impact Pony League team as the Play Ball Team of the Game, presented by Nike.

Postgame Happy Hour: Fans planning on attending the City of Pittsburgh’s fireworks display later in the evening are invited to stay after the game and take advantage of a special postgame happy hour in the Jim Beam Left Field Lounge. As soon as the last pitch is thrown, the Left Field Lounge will be open to fans with live music, drink specials and a postgame menu.

Military Offer: In honor of Independence Day, the Pirates are proud to offer special tickets for all active and veteran members of the United States Armed Forces. Military Appreciation: Today as part of our Military Appreciation, Pirates Charities will host 125 guests, including service members, veterans and their families, for a special event at PNC Park prior to the game. Beginning at 8:30 a.m., attendees will have the opportunity to take batting practice, participate in kids’ baseball activities, and enjoy face painting, balloon animals and airbrush tattoos. Following the morning’s activities, all guests will be treated to brunch in PNC Park’s Skull Bar and will receive tickets to a Pirates game. Pirates Charities worked with local nonprofit organizations assisting military and veterans to invite guests to this special event.

Military Day: Come out to support and honor our brave American military service men and women. The Pirates will wear their Military Day jerseys and special caps.

On Field Military Ceremony: As part of today’s Military Day efforts, a group from the It’s About the Warrior will be honored during a pregame on-field ceremony and hosted in the Pirates Charities Suite. It’s About the Warrior assists and empowers tri-state area post 911 veterans and their families with various programs, leading them to a successful and enriched life.

Free Shirt Friday: Tonight, the Pirates host another popular Free Shirt Friday as the first 20,000 fans, with paid admission, will receive a Pirates “Raise It” tee, presented by Edgar Snyder & Associates.

Dollar Dog Night: As a special thank you to the fans, the Pirates will host Dollar Dog Nights, presented by Sugardale, on select Friday nights. During each Dollar Dog Night, fans can visit any North Shore concession stand throughout the ballpark and purchase regular hot dogs for just one dollar.

Miller Lite Happy Hour: Tonight, and every Friday Night home game, the Pirates will host a special Happy Hour, presented by Miller Lite, at the Crow’s Nest from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Visit the Arnold Palmer Spiked Bar at the Crow’s Nest for live music by guitarist Michael Todd, as well as discounted cans of Miller Lite, Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy, Blue Moon and Arnold Palmer Spiked.

Pitch for Hope: The Pitch for Hope Women's Baseball Clinic is a unique on-field experience led by the Pirates coaching staff. Participants will learn hitting, pitching, fielding and more. MLB Honorary Bat Girl: Major League Baseball’s Honorary Bat Girl program was introduced in 2009 to raise additional awareness and support for the annual "Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer" initiative celebrated on Mother's Day. Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer is a Major League Baseball initiative supported by MLB charitable partners, Stand Up To Cancer and Susan G. Komen. This initiative raises awareness about the breast cancer cause, while also raising funds to support breast cancer research. The Honorary Bat Girl program recognizes baseball fans who have been affected by breast cancer and who demonstrate a commitment to eradicating the disease. The 2019 Honorary Bat Girl for the Pittsburgh Pirates is Kelly Singer Marquis.

Pride Day: Join the Pirates and other supporters of the LGBT community at PNC Park for our third annual Pride Day at PNC Park. Each ticket purchased exclusively at pirates.com/prideday includes a special Pirates Pride Day rainbow cap.

Kids Day: Come down early and join the fun as the Family Fun Zone will be open on Federal Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lined up outside PNC Park will be inflatable rides, baseball games, face painting, information about the Bucaroos Kids Club, presented by Chick-fil-A, and more.

Kids Free Ice Cream: Today, all kids ages 14 and younger, with paid admission, will receive a voucher for a free eight-ounce cup of Rivendale Pirates Treasure ice cream, presented by The National Aviary, during the game.

Kids Run the Bases: Kids attending today’s game are invited to stick around after to run the bases on the field at PNC Park with the Kids Run the Bases, presented by Rivendale Farms.

Police Baseball Card Unveiling: Today Pirates Charities and Pittsburgh Police Chief Scott Schubert will host an event in the PNC Park Press Conference Room to unveil the 2019 Police Baseball Card series. Every year, Pirates Charities produce baseball cards for the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police to distribute as rewards and incentives for outstanding youth in their police zones and communities. This year, Pirates Charities worked with Police Chief Schubert’s office to revamp the design of the baseball cards to include photos of officers from each division of law enforcement along with Pirates players. Today’s event will bring together members of law enforcement, youth and guardians from each zone, and players featured on the cards prior to the game to discuss the program and showcase the new design.

Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffles

The Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffle, supported by Rivers Casino, will take place during each Pirates home game throughout the season. Raffle ticket prices are two (2) tickets for $5, 5 tickets for $10, 20 tickets for $ 20 and 80 tickets for $40 with all proceeds benefiting Pirates Charities. Raffle ticket sales close after the last out in the sixth inning. The winning number will be drawn and announced in the 8th inning and the winner will receive 50 percent of the total pot.
