Pirates sign 35th-round selection from 2019 Draft

The Pittsburgh Pirates today signed the following player from the 2019 First-Year Player Draft. The announcement was made by Joe DelliCarri, Pirates Senior Director of Amateur Scouting. The Pirates have now signed a total of 38 of their 42 selections from the 2019 Draft, which includes 30 of their first 31 selections. That’s the most players the team has signed since the Draft changed to 40 rounds in 2012.

Round 35: Deion Walker, OF, 6-3/183, Hillgrove (GA) High School, GCL Pirates

Was a 2019 Perfect Game pre-season All-American and a pre-season All-Southeast Region selection in 2019…Was the 2019 Marietta Daily Journal/Cobb County Baseball Player-of-the-Year…Hit .341 with seven home runs and 46 RBI during his senior season….Also went 10-2 record with a 3.10 ERA and 76 strikeouts during his senior year at Hillgrove.
