OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s reinstated outfielder Seth Brown from the injured list and optioned catcher Austin Allen to Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.
Brown was placed on the IL Aug. 27 following a positive test for COVID-19. He had a one-game rehab assignment with Low-A Stockton and went 2-for-5 with a home run, RBI, two runs scored and three strikeouts yesterday at San Jose. Brown is batting .203 with 16 home runs and 39 RBI in 94 games with Oakland. He has made 58 of his 59 starts in games in which the opponent starts a right-handed pitcher and is also 4-for-20 (.200) with four RBI as a pinch hitter.
Allen was recalled from Las Vegas on Sept. 1 and went 1-for-2 (.500) in two pinch hitting appearances in his second stint with Oakland this year. He is 2-for-8 (.250) with a home run in four games overall with the A’s this year and is also batting .321 with 20 home runs and 53 RBI in 71 games with the Aviators.
