ANAHEIM, CA – The Angels today announced the signing of 2020 first round draft pick LHP Reid Detmers, whom they selected with the 10th overall pick. Today’s announcement was made by Scouting Director Matt Swanson. Including Detmers, the Angels have also signed fifth round selection LHP Adam Seminaris

Detmers, 20, finished his abbreviated junior season at the University of Louisville going 3-0 with a 1.23 ERA (22 IP – 3 ER) while leading the ACC with 48 strikeouts across his four starts. The left-hander struck out 10+ batters in three of his four outings, including a 15-strikeout performance in his final start of the season at Wake Forest. Detmers completed his collegiate career with a 20-6 record, a 3.20 ERA (191 IP – 68 ER), 284 strikeouts and good for fourth in school history.

In 2019, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound left-hander finished the season with a 13-4 record and fashioned a 2.78 ERA in 113.1 innings of work. He would set the school’s single-season strikeout during his sophomore campaign with 167 K’s and matched the Louisville high mark for wins. Detmers’ 2019 efforts would net him several honors including ACC Pitcher of the Year, an All-ACC First Team nomination and was tabbed as a Golden Spikes Award Semifinalist.
