Astroline continues tomorrow with exclusive interview with Dusty Baker

Hot Stove show will air on SportsTalk 790 at 6 p.m. CT

HOUSTON, TX - Astroline, the Astros popular offseason radio show, will air it’s second episode this offseason tomorrow night on SportsTalk 790 from 6-7 p.m. CT. Astros television broadcasters Geoff Blum and Kevin Eschenfelder will serve as co-hosts for the show, which will feature an exclusive pre-recorded interview with Astros Manager Dusty Baker.

In addition to listening along on SportsTalk 790, the show can be heard live on 94.5 FM HD-2 and at SportsTalk790.com. The show will also be posted online on Friday in podcast form at Astros.com/Podcasts and in video form on the Astros official YouTube account.

All Astroline shows, which are presented by Karbach Brewing Company, are scheduled to broadcast on SportsTalk 790, but are subject to change due to scheduling conflicts. Tomorrow’s show is the second of a scheduled 14 shows, which will air weekly on Thursday’s from 6-7 p.m. CT during the remainder of the offseason.

This week’s Astroline will be hosted by Pluckers Wing Bar, which is located at 1400 Shepherd Dr., Houston, Texas, 77007. Blum and Eschenfelder will be on hand for tomorrow night’s show. Astroline is open to the public with no admission charge.

Baker is entering his second season as the Astros manager after being named to the position on Jan. 29, 2020.In his first year as the club’s manager, Baker guided the Astros to the American League Championship series, lost in seven games to the Tampa Bay Rays. It was another successful year for Baker, who has now taken a Major League record five different teams to the postseason in his illustrious career. He has amassed 1,892 regular season managerial victories, which ranks 15th all-time.

Blum will be returning for his ninth season on the Astros television broadcast team in 2021, his fifth as the everyday color analyst for Astros telecasts. Blum, who retired after 14 Major League seasons as an infielder (1999-2012), made the transition from the playing field to the broadcast booth in 2013. During his playing career, Blum had two stints with the Astros, totaling five seasons in Houston (2002-03, 2008-10). Throughout his tenure with the Astros, Blum hit .259 with 228 RBI, 46 homers, 77 doubles and a .711 OPS. A switch hitter, Blum was known as one of the top pinch-hitters and utility players in the game, appearing at four infield positions for nine straight seasons (2000-08). He appeared in the postseason three times in his career (2005-06, 2011).

Eschenfelder, who was voted in as the 2020 inductee into the Houston Baseball Media Wall of Honor, just completed his 24th season as the Astros pre and postgame host for their television rightsholder, AT&T SportsNet Southwest. Now in his 30th year working in the Houston media market, Eschenfelder got his start in 1991 at Fox Sports Net, covering all three of Houston’s major professional sports teams. He began hosting the Astros and Rockets pre and postgame shows in 1997 for Fox Sports Southwest, before continuing in that role for FS Houston, Comcast SportsNet Houston and AT&T SportsNet SW. In addition to his current pre and postgame duties for Astros games, Eschenfelder fills in on the Astros television broadcasts as a play-by-play announcer. A native Houstonian and a graduate of the University of Houston, Eschenfelder has been the radio voice of the University of Houston Football team since 2013.
