Also, since 2014, his .312 batting average as an outfielder is the highest among all Major League outfielders in that span. Additionally, Brantley has hit .300 or better in each of the last three seasons (2018-20) and five times overall in his career.

Following the regular season, Brantley was outstanding in the postseason for Houston, hitting .346 (18x52) in 13 games with three HR and 11 RBI with a .981 OPS. He played a significant role in the Astros 2020 postseason run that saw the club advance to the seventh game of the ALCS. Overall, Brantley has appeared in the postseason five times in his career, hitting .286 in his 38 postseason games with four home runs and 16 RBI.

In 2019, Brantley’s first in an Astros uniform, he hit .309 in 148 games with 40 doubles, 22 home runs and 90 RBI with an .875 OPS, earning his first All-Star start and fourth appearance overall.

Prior to signing with Houston as a free agent in 2019, Brantley had spent his entire Major League career (2009-18) with the Cleveland Indians. His best season with the Indians was in 2014 when he reached career highs in batting (.327), hits (200), doubles (45), RBI (97) and OPS (.890) while finishing third the voting for the AL MVP Award. The following season (2015), he hit .310 while matching his career-best in doubles (45), the latter of which was tops in the AL.

With the addition of Brantley, the Astros 40-man roster is now at 40 players.
