D-backs recall Stefan Crichton and Jon Duplantier from Triple-A Reno and place Robbie Ray on the 10-day injured list

Optioned Tim Locastro to Triple-A reno following yesterday’s game

PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled RHP Stefan Crichton (stef-FON CRY-ton) and RHP Jon Duplantier (doo-PLON-tee-AY) (@dup_thereitis) from Triple-A Reno and placed LHP Robbie Ray on the 10-day injured list (right lower back spasm). Following yesterday’s game, the D-backs optioned OF Tim Locastro to Reno.

Crichton, 27, has held opponents scoreless in 11 of 13 relief appearances for the D-backs this season with a 3.24 ERA (6 ER in 16.2 IP), .169 opponent average, 15 strikeouts and a 0.90 WHIP (10 H, 5 BB). In 32 relief appearances for Reno, he is 3-3 with 1 save and a 4.03 ERA (23 ER in 51.1 IP).

Duplantier, 25, has pitched in 8 games (3 starts) for the D-backs this season, going 1-1 with 1 save, a 4.32 ERA (12 ER in 25.0 IP), .258 opponent average, 24 strikeouts and 9 walks. In 10 starts at Reno, he is 0-2 with a 6.39 ERA (22 ER in 31.0 IP).

Ray, 27, was removed from yesterday’s game after attempting to warm-up prior to the third inning. In 26 starts this season, he is 10-7 with a 3.99 ERA (63 ER in 142.0 IP), .228 opponent average and 187 strikeouts.

Locastro, 27, has played in 68 games for the D-backs this season, hitting .252 (40-for-159)/.358 OBP with 8 doubles, 2 triples, 1 homer, 15 RBI, 11 walks, 16 hit by pitches and 11 stolen bases.
