Dodgers recall OF DJ Peters

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled outfielder DJ Peters from the alternate site and placed infielder/outfielder Zach McKinstry on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain, retroactive April 22.

Peters, 25, will be recalled for the first time and his next appearance will be his Major League debut. Peters has been with the organization since being drafted in the fourth round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of Western Nevada College. In four minor league seasons, he has hit .269 (461-for-1714) with 92 homers and 271 RBI. In 2019, he split the season between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City, clubbing a combined 23 homers and driving in 81 runs in 125 games. The former Glendora High School alum made 25 appearances during Spring Training, batting .243 (9-for-37) with two homers and five RBI.

McKinstry, 26, will make his first trip to the injured list after appearing in 17 games for the Dodgers this season. In 17 contests, he slashed .296/.328/.556 with three homers and 14 RBI. He recorded his first career homer on April 3 at Coors Field, an inside-the-park homer, becoming the first Dodger to accomplish the feat since Duke Snider on May 2, 1948. In five minor league seasons in the Dodgers organization, he has hit a combined .270 (331-for-1226) with 30 homers and 149 RBI across five different levels.
