Eloy Jiménez of the Chicago White Sox named the American League Rookie of the Month for September; Pete Alonso of the New York Mets named the National League Rookie of the Month for September

September 30th, 2019

Eloy Jiménez of the Chicago White Sox has been voted the American League Rookie of the Month, and All-Star first baseman Pete Alonso of the New York Mets has been named the National League Rookie of the Month for September.

Jiménez earned his first career monthly honor and is the first White Sox player since José Abreu in 2014 to receive AL Rookie of the Month honors. Abreu claimed three such awards during his AL Rookie of the Year-winning 2014 campaign. Alonso received his third NL Rookie of the Month Award this season (also April and June) and is the first rookie in team history to win three awards in the same season. Alonso and Yordan Alvarez of the Houston Astros each earned a trio of Rookie of the Month Awards this season, marking the first time since Rookie of the Month began in 2001 that multiple rookies accomplished the feat in the same season.
