San Diego, California — The Texas Rangers today announced several hires and promotions to the club’s baseball operations department.

--Sean Fields promoted to Major League Athletic Trainer
Michaelene Courtis has been appointed as Senior Director, Baseball Operations and will begin her new role this week at the Baseball Winter Meetings in San Diego. Courtis joins the Rangers after 12 years with the San Diego Padres, the last two as Director of Baseball Administration and Special Assistant to the General Manager in baseball operations. She previously served as Manager, Baseball Administration (2018-21) and Executive Assistant, Baseball Operations (2015-18) after initially joining the Padres in the ticket sales department in 2011. Courtis is a 2009 graduate of the University of California San Diego.
Chandler Couch has joined the Rangers as Assistant Director, Professional Scouting working with Director of Professional Scouting Mike Parnell. Couch was with the Baltimore Orioles for the last four years as Coordinator, Draft Operations (2021-22), Scouting Fellow (2020-21), and an amateur scouting intern (2019). She is a 2020 graduate of the University of Mississippi where she was the manager of the Rebels baseball team for four years.
Kendall Coleman has been added to the Rangers’ professional scouting staff as a pro scout after serving as a scouting and player development fellow for the 2022 season. Coleman was a member of the inaugural class of the Rangers Charley Pride Fellowship program in 2021 when he spent a portion of his fellowship working in the baseball operations department. A 2022 graduate of the University of North Texas, Coleman was selected in the 11th round of the 2013 MLB Draft by the New York Yankees out of Rockwall (TX) High School. The outfielder played six seasons in the Yankees and Mets organizations from 2013-18.
Sean Fields has been promoted to Major League Athletic Trainer, joining Head Athletic Trainer Matt Lucero, Athletic Trainer Jacob Newburn, and Team Physical Therapist Regan Wong on the big league staff. Fields is a 13-year veteran in the Texas player development system, spending the last four seasons as Arizona Medical Coordinator. He was also the minor league Rehab Coordinator from 2016-18 and spent six years working as a team trainer in the Texas farm system. Fields was the recipient of the Bobby Jones Player Development Man of the Year Award in 2018.
