Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Cory Gearrin. Gearrin, who was on the Twins taxi squad, has appeared in 336 career major league games (two starts), going 13-12 with a 3.64 ERA (302.0 IP, 122 ER), 129 walks, 282 strikeouts, and five saves. Gearrin split the 2019 season between the Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees organizations, and his 11 double plays induced in 66 appearances (two starts) tied for third most among American League relievers.

To make room for Gearrin on the 28-man roster, the Twins have optioned right-handed pitcher Sean Poppen, who appeared in just two games for the Twins this season, including pitching 2.0 innings last night in Kansas City.
