ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers announced the following roster moves prior to tonight's homestand finale against the Oakland Athletics:
• Third baseman Adrián Beltré placed on 10-day disabled list with left hamstring strain.
• Outfielder Ryan Rua recalled from Triple-A Round Rock.
• Right-handed pitcher Doug Fister activated from 10-day disabled list.
• Right-handed pitcher Matt Bush optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.
Beltré suffered his left hamstring injury while running to first base on his run-scoring hit in the 8th inning of Tuesday's game against Oakland. He was lifted from the game for a pinch-runner. Beltré has compiled a .310/.366/.437/.803 slash line for Texas this season while starting 24 of the team's first 25 games. The first date he would be eligible to return is May 5.
Fister is the scheduled starter for tonight's game against Oakland. He went 1-2 with a 3.95 ERA (6 ER/13.2 IP) over 3 starts as a member of the season-opening rotation before being placed on the 10-day disabled list on April 10 with a right hip strain. Tonight would be Fister's first appearance for Texas since a start on April 9 vs. Los Angeles-AL.
Rua will be in his third stint with Texas this season, as he was also with the club from Opening Day-April 15 and April 17-20. Rua played 2 games for the Express while at Triple-A, going 3-for-6 with a home run, double, and 4 RBI. He has batted .178 with one home run and 3 RBI in 16 games for the Rangers this season.
Bush has no record and a 3.97 ERA (5 ER/11.1 IP) over 13 relief appearances for Texas this season. Opponents have batted .195 against Bush with 9 walks and 11 strikeouts.
Following these transactions, the Rangers still have a full 40-man roster along with 5 players on the 60-day disabled list.
