Arlington, Texas -- The Texas Rangers today announced that shortstop Elvis Andrus is scheduled to begin an injury rehabilitation assignment with Double-A Frisco in today’s 11:05 a.m. CT contest against Midland.

Andrus was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain on Wednesday, and the first date he would be eligible to return to the active roster is Saturday. He sustained his hamstring injury while running out a ground ball in the seventh inning of the Rangers’ game on May 14 in Kansas City. Andrus has batted .325 with 6 home runs and 26 RBI for the Rangers this season in 38 games/starts. This is the second straight season for Andrus to endure an injured list stint after he had never previously been on the injured list.
