Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has activated outfielder Willie Calhoun from the 10-day injured list and placed outfielder Hunter Pence on the 10-day injured list with a right groin strain.

Calhoun suffered a left quad strain during his last game with Texas on May 21 vs. Seattle and was placed on the injured list the following day. He batted .273 (3-11) with a double, 4 RBI, 2 walks, and 4 runs over 4 games on an injury rehabilitation assignment with the Triple-A Nashville Sounds. Originally recalled from Nashville on May 15, Calhoun has hit safely in 5 of his 6 games with the Rangers this season, batting .435 (10-23) with 2 home runs, a double, and 7 RBI.

Pence left the Rangers’ game on Sunday at Cincinnati with a groin injury in the bottom of the fifth inning. His home run in the third inning yesterday marked his 15th of the season, Pence’s highest home run total since 2014 (20). He also entered today ranking tied for sixth in the American League with a team-high 48 RBI. The first date Pence would be eligible to return is June 27.

Following these transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with five players on the 60-day injured list: RHP Luke Farrell, LHP Taylor Hearn, OF Scott Heineman, LHP Yohander Méndez, and RHP Edinson Vólquez.
