Cincinnati Reds President of Baseball Operations Dick Williams today announced the acquisition of RHP Trevor Bauer from the Cleveland Indians as part of a 3-team trade in which the Indians received from the Reds OF Yasiel Puig and LHP Scott Moss and from the San Diego Padres OF Franmil Reyes, LHP Logan Allen and IF Victor Nova, while the Padres received from the Reds OF Taylor Trammell (truh-MELL).

Bauer, 28, this season leads the Major Leagues with 156.2 innings pitched while ranking fifth in the majors and fourth in the American League with 185 strikeouts. In his 24 starts for the Indians, he went 9-8 with a 3.79 ERA.

He threw at least 175 innings in each of the previous 4 seasons and is on pace to reach that mark again in 2019. Since the beginning of last season, among all starting pitchers with at least 300 innings Bauer ranks fifth in strikeouts (406), sixth in ERA (2.95), ninth in innings pitched (332.0) and 10th in batting average against (.213).

Last season, Bauer was an American League All-Star and finished fifth in the Cy Young Award voting. He ranked second in the AL in ERA (2.21) and allowed the fewest HR per 9 innings in the league (.0462).

Bauer is expected to join the Reds this weekend in Atlanta. He will wear uniform number 27.
