Rockies homestand events, May 3-12

May 4th, 2019

Coming off a 4-3 road trip to Atlanta and Milwaukee, the Rockies return home for a nine-game homestand against National League West Division rivals Arizona, San Francisco and San Diego.

The following events will take place over the course of the homestand:

Friday, May 3 vs. Diamondbacks, 6:40 p.m.

  • National Anthem by Littleton Public Schools
  • Color Guard by West Metro Fire Rescue

Saturday, May 4 vs. Diamondbacks, 6:10 p.m.

  • **End NF: **Rockies outfielder Ian Desmond will host 20 fans during pregame as part of his End Neurofibromatosis campaign with the Children’s Tumor Foundation.
  • National Anthem by Spring Choir Day (650 students from 12 Colorado schools)
  • Color Guard by Berthoud/Loveland High Schools Army JROTC

Sunday, May 5 vs. Diamondbacks, 1:10 p.m.

  • **Autograph Sunday: **Four Rockies players will sign autographs down the first base line starting at 11:40 a.m.
  • **Pregame Parade: **Youth baseball teams from around the state will take a lap around the warning track prior to the game.
  • National Anthem by Greeley Children’s Chorale
  • Color Guard by Westminster High School Air Force JROTC
  • God Bless America by Master Sergeant Chris Hammiel
  • **Hero of the Game: **The Rockies will honor Lieutenant Timothy Bell, Machinist Mate Second Class Chris Gutierrez and Navy Fireman Albert Rodriguez during the seventh inning stretch. All three are crewmen from the U.S. Navy’s nuclear submarine USS Colorado, which just celebrated her first anniversary in Naval service.

Tuesday, May 7 vs. Giants, 6:40 p.m.

Wednesday, May 8 vs. Giants, 6:40 p.m.

  • **First Pitch by Jamie Ketchum: **Jamie, a huge Rockies fan, was recently released from the UCHealth Burn Center after spending a record 425 days there following a tragic car accident. Jamie has overcome incredible odds and her positive attitude is an inspiration to her medical team and those that know her.

Thursday, May 9 vs. Giants, 1:10 p.m.

  • **Math Day: **The Rockies will host their inaugural Math Day at Coors Field, providing a curriculum packet that teachers can use to craft an in-game lesson for their students while at the ballgame.
  • **Pregame Group: **Rockies players and General Manager Jeff Bridich will meet with airmen from Peterson Air Force Base.

  • Color Guard by Gateway High School

Friday, May 10 vs. Padres, 6:40 p.m.

  • **Pregame Parade: **Youth baseball teams from around the state will take a lap around the warning track prior to the game.
  • **Healthcare Appreciation Ticket Package: **The Rockies and the Colorado Nurses Association teamed up to invite all medical professionals to the game, with a ticket package that includes a Rockies-themed healthcare coffee cup and a donation to the Colorado Nurses Foundation. The package is sold out.

Saturday, May 11 vs. Padres, 6:10 p.m.

  • **Buckley Air Force Base Youth Baseball and Softball Clinic: **Colorado Rockies front office staff, players and coaches will travel to Buckley Air Force Base for a clinic with children of military families from all military branches.
  • **Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog-Eating Contest: **Coors Field will host a sanctioned Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog-Eating Contest Denver Qualifier. The top performing male and female will secure a spot at the 2019 Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog-Eating Championship in Coney Island, N.Y., where they will compete against reigning champions Joey Chestnut and Miki Sudo. The Nathan’s Famous Denver Qualifier will begin at 5 p.m. on The Rooftop.
  • **Teacher Appreciation Ticket Package: **In support of Teacher Appreciation Week, the Rockies invited teachers, school administrators and employees to the fifth annual Teacher Appreciation Game. The ticket package includes Colorado Rockies TEACHERS ROCK-themed socks. The package is sold out.

Sunday, May 12 vs. Padres, 1:10 p.m.

  • Mother’s Day Ticket Package: **Fans that purchase the Mother’s Day Ticket Package get the opportunity to participate in the **Susan G. Komen pregame parade and take a picture with their family on the field after the game.
  • **Mother’s Day Promotional Item: **The first 10,000 fans through the gates will receive a Mother’s Day Wristlet, courtesy of Shane Co.
  • **Honorary Bat Girl Dana Mahoney Plumhoff: **Since 2009, each MLB team has recognized a fan who has been affected by breast cancer and has demonstrated a commitment to battling the disease. Plumhoff was diagnosed with breast cancer on March 1, 2018, two months after the sudden passing of her mother. Dana battled her cancer while caring for her special-needs brother and her father, who also passed away after a fight with cancer in September 2018. On April 1, 2019, she underwent her final cancer treatment in the infusion center.

  • **Hero of the Game: **The Rockies will honor Navy Staff Sergeant Felix Torres during the seventh inning stretch. Torres has been recognized by the Navy for superior performance on numerous occasions, earning three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medals along with three meritorious masts and one certificate of commendation for exemplary performance.
