Rockies recall Carlos Estevez from Triple-A Albuquerque

Left-handed pitcher Jake McGee placed on the 10-day injured list after suffering left knee sprain

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Carlos Estévez from Triple-A Albuquerque and placed left-hander Jake McGee on the 10-day injured list due to a left knee sprain.

Estévez, 26, appeared in nine Spring Training games before being optioned to Triple-A on March 23 … had no record and a 1.08 ERA (8.1 IP, 1 ER) with five walks and 13 strikeouts … spent the 2018 season at Triple-A Albuquerque, going 0-1 with a 6.35 ERA (28.1 IP, 20 ER) over 28 games … was placed on the 10-day disabled list with an oblique strain March 26 and transferred to the 60-day DL April 23 with an elbow strain … has appeared in 98 Major League games over the course of the 2016 and 2017 seasons since making his debut on April 23, 2016, and has gone 8-7 with a 5.36 ERA (87.1 IP, 52 ER) with 42 walks, 90 strikeouts and nine home runs allowed.

McGee, 32, suffered the knee injury Monday at Tampa Bay in the eighth inning of his second appearance of the season … has allowed two hits with three strikeouts over 2.1 innings pitched in 2019 … allowed 12 runs (nine earned) on 12 hits over 7.0 innings of work this Spring (11.57 ERA) … is in the second season of a three-year contract, his fourth season overall with the Rockies after being acquired from Tampa Bay along with German Márquez on Jan. 28, 2016 in exchange for OF Corey Dickerson and Minor League INF Kevin Padlo … among active left-handed relievers, ranks fourth with 471 games and 459 strikeouts since his first full season in 2011 … has a career Major League record of 25-20 with a 3.55 ERA (416.1 IP, 164 ER) over 479 games … has allowed 44 home runs with 120 walks and 465 strikeouts.

The Rockies currently have 38 players on their 40-man roster.
