Rockies reinstate Tyler Anderson from injured list

Left-handed pitcher placed on the 10-day IL with a blister on his left middle finger

DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have reinstated left-handed pitcher Tyler Anderson (left knee inflammation) from the 10-day injured list and have placed left-hander Kyle Freeland on the 10-day IL with a blister on his left middle finger, retroactive to April 19.

Anderson, 29, will be starting against the Washington Nationals tonight at Coors Field … was placed on the injured list on April 7 with left knee inflammation, his fifth career stint on the injured list and the third time with left knee inflammation … has made two starts for the Rockies this season and is 0-2 with a 11.00 ERA (9.0 IP, 11 ER), three walks and five strikeouts … since his Major League debut with the Rockies on June 12, 2016 vs. San Diego, the Rockies’ 2008 first-round pick has gone 18-23 with a 4.46 ERA (385.1 IP, 191 ER) with 116 walks and 349 strikeouts.

Freeland, 25, has gone 2-3 with a 4.23 ERA (27.2 IP, 13 ER), 10 walks and 30 strikeouts in five starts this season … tossed six scoreless innings in his last start, April 18 vs. the Phillies … finished fourth in National League Cy Young voting in 2018 after going 17-7 with a 2.85 ERA (202.1 IP, 64 ER) … his 2.84 ERA was the lowest in a full season in franchise history and the fourth-lowest in the NL in 2018 … this will be his second career stint on the injured list after missing 10 days Aug. 5-15, 2017 with a left groin strain.

The Rockies currently have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
