10 reasons Red Sox fans should be thrilled with the team's deadline moves
There was some talk about the Red Sox heading into Thursday's non-waiver Trade Deadline, and word had it that their ace southpaw Jon Lester might be on the move, but no one really expected them to make the splash that they did.
The Sox sent Lester and outfielder Jonny Gomes to the Athletics for Yoenis Cespedes. Then they sent pitcher John Lackey and pitching prospect Corey Littrell to the Cardinals for Joe Kelly and Allen Craig. This means that, while their 2014 hopes look a little bleak, but they have A LOT to be excited about heading into 2015. Like, a lot to be excited about.
