400,000 square feet of baseball: All-Star FanFest draws a crowd in K.C.

All-Star FanFest opened Friday morning, and fans of all 30 current MLB teams -- plus a few bygones -- flocked to the Kansas City Convention Center to gorge themselves on an all-you-can-walk buffet of baseball history, memorabilia and activities.

A family wearing A's gear picked through collectible pins while a couple in matching Mark Trumbo shirts browsed an exhibit from the Negro Leagues Museum. A father sporting a Jose Vidro Expos jersey led his two sons (one repping Phillies, the other Red Sox) to the fielding cages. Elsewhere, a line formed to answer trivia questions at the MLB.com stage and the Mariner Moose raced Billy the Marlin around the bases.

It was only Day 1, and nearly 400,000 square feet of floor space was already packed to the brim with everything baseball. Stay tuned for plenty more ...
