5 reasons Ichiro Suzuki should be excited for Miami
According to MLB.com's Adam Berry, Ichiro Suzuki is heading to Miami to join the Marlins. We can think of a few reasons Marlins fans should be excited about the 10-time Gold Glover and single-season hits record-holder: He might be the most polite man in baseball, but he can still talk some trash.
But there are many reasons Ichiro should be just as excited about Miami. Here are the top five:
1. Wildlife
New York is a magnificent city, but one thing it does not have is wildlife (no, those monster rats don't count). In Miami, there are plenty of opportunities to observe decidedly friendlier creatures, like manatees and colorful local birds. If, however, Ichiro is interested in the "Planet of the Apes" experience, he can head to Monkey Jungle, "where humans are cages and monkeys run wild!"
2. Prehistoric mysteries
In 1998, an apartment complex on Miami's Brickell Avenue was torn down, leading to the discovery of 24 holes in the bedrock that formed a perfect circle 38 feet in diameter. Though pre-historic artifacts were also found at the site, no one is quite sure what the circle was. Now it's open for Ichiro's contemplation. Is it possible that it was on-deck circle for an ancient race of giants?

Look, no one has proven it wasn't.
3. Food, oh man, the food
Whether you order a classic Cuban sandwich from famed eatery Versailles:

Or conch fritters at La Camaronera Seafood Joint and Fish Market:

Hey, Ichiro, will you take us to Florida with you?
4. Swimming!
Not only does the Miami area have incredible beaches, it also possesses the only swimming pool on the National Register of Historic Places. The Venetian Pool, built in 1924, is naturally filtered each day and looks like a tropical Rivendell:
5. Celebrations
Ichiro's hit total currently stands at 2,844, so it's not impossible to imagine that he could collect his 3,000th as a Marlin. If he did, we're sure the celebration would be excellent. Pitbull might perform:
Maybe Miami's DJ Khaled could remix Ben Gibbard's song about him:
And all the Marlins fans on the guest list would keep the energy high:
Welcome to Miami, Ichiro. Save us a bite of that Cuban sandwich.
