5 ways Cubs fans should prepare for the arrival of Kris Bryant

5 ways Cubs fans should prepare for Kris Bryant

The day has come.

Kristopher L. Bryant has reportedly been called up by the Cubs and will be with the team as soon as Friday. Besides boarding up your home windows and doors for the monumental home runs he'll be spraying all over Chicago, here are 5 more things you should do to prepare for his arrival. Please make sure you do all of these. It's important.

1. Read his biography: The Kid Who Only Hit Home Runs

It's short, but a pretty in-depth look at Bryant's life up to this point. You can read it on the way to the game or late at night while listening to some majestic home run-making music. Or just stare at the cover until you fall into a deep, joyful, ivy-laden slumber:

2. Rehearse dance moves/lyrics to his walk-up song

For the first time, Cubs players have walk-up songs this season. In an article from last year, Bryant admitted that he'd probably use a country song for his first MLB at-bat. He mentioned Brantley Gilbert's "Kick it in the Sticks" as one of his favorites. Walk-up songs are important and Bryant will likely be looking into the stands to see who's been paying attention and can sing along as he walks to the plate. We recommend reading up on the top country songs of the last five years. Here's Gilbert's video just in case:

3. Make mashed potatoes

You'll need sustenance to make it through Bryant's debut. Why not mash some potatoes in honor of the dingers Bryant's going to mash? And don't stop there. If you get fries at the game, mash them. Hamburger? Mash it. Chicken tenders and ice cream? Mash them all together. You need to be ready for the 2015 Wrigley Field Mash Party.

4. Bring your glove to the ballpark

There's much debate as to whether one should bring gloves to the ballpark or try to catch home run balls bare-handed. We're generally with the latter crowd, but this is an exception. This is Kris Bryant. He will hit a home run and the more surface area attached to your palm, the better. Plus, you don't wanna try to catch those rockets without some padding. Here's an example of his power:

5. Study footage of his home runs

There are lots of them -- he hit 55 total in the Minor Leagues (including one on Thursday). It's important to know what you're getting into before arriving at Wrigley. Take notes, get out your highlighters and buy some rulers.

They're long:

They're clutch:

And sometimes, they come in twos:
