It's here. Can you believe it? Game 1 of the World Series is finally here. Check your pulse -- if it's not racing, you're probably on the wrong website, my friend.
Before we look forward at the exciting matchups yet to come, let's look back at some of the awesome plays that made this year's postseason ... well ... awesome:
National League Wild Card Game -- Reds at Pirates
Let's start back at the beginning. Remember how crazy this game was? This home run by Marlon Byrd -- in his first career postseason at-bat, no less -- sent Pirates fans over the moon in their first playoff game since 1992:
American League Divison Series, Game 2 -- Tigers at Athletics
A's starting pitcher Sonny Gray game to play for Game 2, striking out nine batters en route to a 1-0 win over Detroit. Gray and eventual-hero Stephen Vogt shut down the Tigers' fifth inning rally with this perfectly executed "strike 'em out, throw 'em out" double play:
National League Divison Series, Game 3 -- Braves at Dodgers
You remember this game, right? The Dodgers scored a bunch of runs, Tommy Lasorda bro'd out with Kendrick Lamar and Carl Crawford layed out for this incredible foul catch:
National League Championship Series, Game 1 -- Dodgers at Cardinals
A lot has been made about Carlos Beltran's October dominance at the plate, but you should never forget that he can be a force in the outfield too. Take, for example, this perfect throw to catch Mark Ellis tagging from third:
American League Championship Series, Game 2 -- Tigers at Red Sox
From one October titan to another -- David Ortiz wrote the next chapter of his own campfire legend with this game-tying grand slam in the eighth inning of ALCS Game 2:
American League Championship Series, Game 6 -- Tigers at Red Sox:
Yeah, it's another grand slam. YAWN.
Seriously though, there were two grand slams in this series. Wow.
