80's rocker Kenny Loggins paid a visit to the Trop

How many Kenny Loggins song references can we fit into a Cut4 post? "For the first time," we're going to find out.

The 1980s hit-maker was "playing with the boys" on the field prior to the Rays/Padres game at Tropicana Field as he was scheduled to play a postgame concert for the Rays Summer Concert Series. So while the fans were excited to see him throw out the ceremonial first pitch, they would have to "wait a little while" to hear him play some of his famous tunes.

To prepare for the first pitch, Loggins got his "arm loose" by playing catch and was pleasantly surprised when Evan Longoria "met him halfway" and asked for his autograph on a baseball. Loggins, "nobody's fool," asked for Longoria's autograph in return and the pair had a nice "heart to heart" conversation for a few minutes as Loggins asked for tips. "Just don't bounce it in front of the catcher," Longoria said. "That's the 'danger zone.'" When Longoria asked if Loggins was nervous, he replied confidently, "I'm alright."

The duo's conversation was cut short when Loggins was called away to throw the first pitch -- "This is it," Loggins explained.

Loggins proved his right arm was still "alive 'n' kickin'" when he threw a strike to Rays third base coach Tom Foley and they had a "sweet reunion" on the infield as they posed for pictures.

Whew, that was exhausting. The answer is 12 -- you can fit 12 Kenny Loggins song references into a Cut4 post.
