86-year-old Billy Pierce, former White Sox ace, threw out the first pitch at the Cell

Billy Pierce first joined the White Sox in 1949, spending 13 of his 18 big league seasons on the South Side. On Saturday, he returned to Chicago to toss out the first pitch before the Sox took on the Indians.

Pierce and Whitey Ford had a particularly fierce rivalry in the mid-1950's, with Pierce helping to keep the White Sox competitive against the Yankees. He says he wasn't so afraid of Ford -- just the rest of that famed Yankees lineup.
