A bizarre bounce off the Green Monster ladder enabled this Omar Infante double

A bizarre bounce off the Green Monster ladder enabled this Omar Infante double

The Green Monster sits 310-315 feet from home plate at Fenway Park. It's 37 feet and two inches tall and was built in 1912, but wasn't painted green until 1947. The Monster also has a ladder in the middle of it, which was once used to retrieve home run balls in the days before seats were built atop it.

If you hadn't noticed it before, Royals infielder Omar Infante made sure to point the ladder out to you by launching a double off of it on Friday. Infante looked like he was taking Clay Buchholz off the Monster, but left fielder Daniel Nava had to make an adjustment when the ball ricocheted off the ladder and into the left-field corner.

Infante cruised into second and eventually came around to score on an Eric Hosmer single ... off the Monster.
