A fired-up Andrelton Simmons kicks up turf en route to making a long-distance, tumbling catch

Andrelton Simmons makes long-distance tumbling catch

With a runner on third in the bottom of the seventh inning of Saturday's Blue Jays-Braves game, Dalton Pompey thwacked a single to Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons. It was a close play at first -- it even went under review -- but Pompey just beat Simmons' throw. Steve Tolleson scored.

Simmons does not particularly enjoy it when runners score. He was not happy. So the very next play, he ensured Devon Travis would not reach base under any circumstances:

The long distance hustle + the kicked-up turf + the slide + the body tumble = a fired-up Andrelton Simmons.

Simmons made an equally impressive effort for Travis' at-bat in the previous inning.

Is Travis versus Simmons MLB's next great rivalry? Will every Travis at-bat versus the Braves for eternity feature Herculean efforts? Gosh, we hope so.
