From Mr. 1 to Mr. 4000: A look back at Ichiro Suzuki's first MLB hit

With a first-inning single against the Blue Jays on Wednesday, Ichiro Suzuki celebrated the 4,000th hit of his career between Japan and the Major Leagues. The beloved Yankees outfielder is only the third player in baseball history to achieve this feat.

This milestone represents his 2,722nd hit in the American League -- Suzuki racked up 1,278 more for the Japanese Pacific League's Orix Blue Wave between 1992 and 2000.

Ichiro's first Major League hit on U.S. soil came in 2001. On April 2, the then-Mariner made it to first on a grounder that slipped past T.J. Mathews to center field.

Congratulations, Ichiro! Here's to 4,000 more.
