A visual recap of Day 1 of the 2013 MLB Draft

On Thursday night, MLB teams gathered to participate in the 2013 MLB Draft -- an annual ritual of reinvention and replenishment for Major League clubs.

Astros fans were awfully excited for the first pick:

And that first pick turned out to be RHP Mark Appel:

The Cubs drafted 3B Kris Bryant, and we got a little confused:

RHP Kohl Stewart went fourth overall, and we're hoping the Twins liked him mostly for his sewing skills:

When it was time for the Indians to pick their newest prospect, Cleveland chose outfielder, singer and Ron Weasley look-alike Clint Frazier:

Braden Shipley's facial hair didn't impress:

But his friend in the striped shirt had more than enough for everyone:

Phillies pick J.P. Crawford (cousin of Carl Crawford) rocked a super-awesome bow tie:

And Nick Ciuffo brought the classy baseball-themed cuff links:

Even Reds representative Eric Davis was looking fly:

As the draft continued, we forgot what sport we were watching:

But Tony La Russa had our back:

Even if we made a little fun of him:

While the night was drawing to a close, Chipper Jones got us excited for the future:

And baseball's grandpa gave us wonderful parting words:
