The first pitch was delivered by veteran GySgt. Paul McQuigg, a 16-year Marine who was medically retired after being wounded in combat. Sgt. Ryan McIntosh, who plays for the Purple Heart Wounded Warriors' baseball team, pronounced the honorary "Play Ball!" A local Gold Star child who lost a parent in combat served as honorary bat boy.

Fans enjoyed a Camo Hat giveaway, and players for both the Angels and White Sox donned camo jerseys and camo caps with their respective team logos.
