Bartolo Colon caught up with an old friend in the Citi Field bullpen, then struck out the side

Colon chats with friend and then strikes out side

Not all days can be banner days. Many of them can be downright miserable with missed subways, spilled coffee and the realization that Pizza Rat's lifespan probably was too short to even eat a second slice.

However, if you're Bartolo Colon, those days are few and far between. After all, here's a 42-year-old hurler who's still getting outs while throwing 90 percent fastballs, and whose at-bats are more entertaining than all of the summer blockbusters put together. And Monday's NLDS Game 3 against the Dodgers was no exception.

Before entering the game in the sixth inning, Colon found time to catch up with Joel Peralta while in Citi Field's bullpen.

Once Colon entered the game, he was even better. The right-hander blew away the first three batters he faced, throwing 12 fastballs and only two sliders.

Though Colon struggled some in his second inning of work, giving up a home run to Adrian Gonzalez, he had some room to relax. After all, the Mets were winning, 10-3, at the time, en route to a 13-7 victory. New York will look to close out its series against the Dodgers on Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on TBS.
