Bartolo Colon's new Mets contract includes a bonus if he wins the Silver Slugger Award
Bartolo Colon gets a bonus if he wins Silver Slugger

Bartolo Colon is good. Bartolo Colon is great. Bartolo Colon is fun.
This is the mantra I repeat to myself when I wake up every day. And things could be even more fun next year. I know, seems impossible, right?
After re-signing with the Mets earlier this week, Jon Heyman reported on some very interesting contract clauses that he has.
Bartolo Colon $7.25M mets deal includes 50K extra for all star, Cy young, gold glove and silver slugger. Silver slugger!

Cy Young? Of course it's possible. He's already won one and has better command of his fastball than I do the English language.
And a Gold Glove seems just as attainable as an And1 highlight reel:
But just think: Bartolo Colon, Silver Slugger. It's possible! Sure, we all thrill as Colon comes to the plate, his big swings and enthusiasm for the task at hand reminding us of how much fun we'd be having if we were sent to the dish.
But after going 2-for-62 in 2014, Colon studiously approached the task at hand and quadrupled his hit total in fewer trips to the plate. If he keeps up at that rate, he'll pick up 32 hits next year and will probably become the Mets' first bat off the bench.
I'm calling it now: Colon will be taking home an award next year. Even if it is just the key to my heart.
