Baseball Card of the Day: Bichette Happens

Player: Dante Bichette, Colorado

Series: 1996 Upper Deck Collector's Choice

Bichette happens, and it especially happened in 1995, when Dante led the NL in home runs, RBIs and slugging percentage and finished second in the MVP voting. Taking full advantage of pre-humidor Coors Field, the Rockies featured four 30-homer hitters on their roster that season (Bichette, Vinny Castilla, Andres Galarraga and Larry Walker).

Evidence suggests this shirt was not custom-made just for the outfielder: actor Chip Chinery claims to have coined the catchphrase, and poses with both this and an alternate design on this page. I don't know how many were made, but at least one clearly made its way to the man itself.

No matter the provenance of these shirts, I know two things. One, it's amazing that Bichette wore it for his card photoshoot and that Upper Deck printed it; and two, it would be great if an authetic T-shirt came across eBay one of these days.
