Baseball Card of the Day: Brian Hunter literally steals bases

Player: Brian Hunter, Detroit

Series: 1999 Topps Chrome

Forensic analysts have struggled to positively determine the identity of the masked burglar in the card above, though the strongest hypothesis is that it's outfielder Brian Hunter. Primarily because of the presence of his name in the top right, and the fact that base theft was his modus operandi throughout his 10-year MLB career.

In 1999, Hunter was two seasons removed from an AL stolen base title with the Tigers. He wouldn't stay on the '99 Tigers for long -- he was traded to the Mariners in late April -- but he still ended up leading the league in swipes for a second time.
