Baseball Card(s) of the Day: A tapestry of mustaches and aviator glasses

I would love for someone to bring this look back today. Eric Sogard sports a contemporary take on the facial hair-with-spectacles concept, but obviously it's far removed from the old-school style on display here.

An interesting note: Ken Phelps might have looked goofier than anyone, but he was a very underrated hitter. In the five seasons from 1984-1988 he hit at rates (.249/.395/.530) that we'd consider fantastic today, but in the pre-sabermetrics era, he never made an All-Star team.
