Break it down: AL Wild Card race

The Phillies and Tigers have already locked up their respective divisions. The Yankees, Rangers, Brewers and D-backs look well on their way to poppin' clubhouse bottles too.

Good thing the Wild Card races are still up for grabs in the season's final full week. Let's break down the American League contenders:

Red Sox: The weekend didn't go as planned for the Sox, who dropped three of four against the Rays and now lead Tampa Bay by just two games. Boston has a doubleheader against the Orioles today, so Pedro and Schilling should provide some breathing room. Wait, John Lackey and Kyle Weiland are starting? Terry Francona must be all like "Nawwwwwt you!"

Rays: Tampa Bay is riding high after coming, seeing and conquering Boston over the weekend. Skipper Joe Maddon even stuck around for the duration on Saturday and Sunday after making an early exit from Friday's game. How did the skipper spend his three-inning clubhouse vacation? Our guess is picking out postseason roadtrip apparel.

Angels: Lurking four games behind Boston, the Halos got the mid-season Jered Weaver effort they needed on Sunday. It's yet to be seen how Weaver will perform if Mike Scocia moves this week, but count out the Rally Monkey at your own risk.

Let us know: Which team will win the AL Wild Card?
