Baseball players have used gloves in the field for nearly 125 years -- from mitten-variety to padded to webbed. They've become an absolutely necessary part of the game. The pre-glove era has, of course, been well-documented by American historian Conan O'Brien.
On Saturday, new A's third baseman Brett Lawrie asserted that he would like to return to the pre-mitt era.
Silly gloves. Next time I shall just leave you in the dugout.
