Brewers release attack ads as All-Star campaign gets dirty

Brewers run attack ads for All-Star voting

It's mid-June, which means that all across Major League Baseball, teams and fans are vying for votes to get their best players represented at this summer's All-Star Game at Minneapolis' Target Field. While most of the campaigning stays above board, at least one franchise has decided that pointing out flaws in its opponents is a necessary evil this election season.

The Brewers, in urging fans to vote catcher Jonathan Lucroy onto the NL team, felt compelled to remind voters that Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is, in fact, a Cardinal. As of a few days ago, Lucroy was third in voting among NL catchers, trailing Molina and Giants backstop Buster Posey.

We'd like to imagine that the Cardinals staff is holed up in a pop-up office in some strip mall trying to dig up one of Lucroy's controversial college essays to start their own smear campaign.

Earlier this month, the Brewers also debuted a politically-themed video promoting Carlos Gomez, making the case that unlike last year, the starting center fielder in the All-Star Game should be an actual center fielder.

Don't forget that ballots are open until 11:59 p.m. EST on July 3. Vote or die?
