Brock Holt gets sweet homecoming at Minute Maid Park

Brock Holt, a Texas native, received a warm welcome at Minute Maid Park when his Pirates took on the Astros on Friday night. Over 40 friends and family members came to see the rookie second baseman, sporting shirts saying “Party like a Brockstar” and “Like a Brock.”

Friday marked the first time Holt has played in Texas since his callup on Sept. 1.

“[His callup] was exciting, but I guess we really weren't expecting it,” said GayLynn, Brock's mother. “As a matter of fact, he tried to call me three times, but I didn't pick up the phone because we were going to run an errand in town. I thought he was calling because one of his friends had just been called up to Triple-A. I guess we were more shocked than anything, but excited for him because he has worked so hard.”
