Bronson Arroyo, Aaron Hill and Mark Trumbo started a band, kind of

The D-backs got the band back together (literally)

As a little bit of stress relief during the long grind of the baseball season, several D-backs players like to play music. Last weekend fans got to see that firsthand as they performed at the team's annual Fan Fest at Chase Field.

Backed by the band The Walkens, pitcher Bronson Arroyo, second baseman Aaron Hill and outfielder Mark Trumbo showed their talents on the stage.

"I had a lot of fun, but more importantly the fans seemed to enjoy it," Trumbo said. "It is called FanFest, after all. It was an idea that got floated around a little bit and made a lot of sense."

The trio began playing together in their spare time last year when Fender loaned them some equipment and turned a storage room at Chase Field into a music room. They played at the team's award banquet for sponsors in January.

For Hill and Trumbo, the music is a hobby, but Arroyo is more polished and has been playing for a longer period of time.

"He's legitimate," Trumbo said of Arroyo. "He's got legitimate talent. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see him do a lot of this post-playing career. He's got an incredible voice, an incredible feel for music in general. He's very passionate about it and it's a pleasure to get to play with someone that capable."
