High school brothers hit back-to-back inside-the-park home runs
Hitting an inside-the-park homer is rare. Doing it twice, back-to-back (with your brother), just doesn't happen. But don't tell that to Nick and Estevan Rodriguez.
The Los Angeles high schoolers accomplished the feat this month while batting third and fourth in the lineup for John F. Kennedy High School. According to the L.A. Times, they also hit their balls into the same area of right-center field.
"I never expected him to hit it in the same spot, so it was a real cool experience," Nick said. "I was definitely screaming. I was right outside the dugout waiting for him, because I knew it was crazy."
Said Estevan: "After he hit his, I was thinking, 'I have to hit the ball and try to beat him.' I hit it to the same spot and it was an amazing feeling. I almost tripped at third."
The brothers have led their squad to an 18-7 record this year. And who knows, maybe we'll see them doing this kind of thing on a grander stage in a few years ...
