Bryce Harper lives lifelong dream, trains with Nevada firefighters

Bryce Harper spends a day as a firefighter

During his rookie season in 2012, power-hitting phenom Bryce Harper participated in an online chat in which he told Nats fans that he had always dreamed of becoming a firefighter. He also mentioned that he intended to get his EMT certification during the offseason.

"I'd probably be a firefighter. Ever since I was growing up, I wanted to be a firefighter or a baseball player. Going into the offseason, I'm going to get my EMT and do the firefighting thing so I have something to fall back on."

That dream hadn't dissipated by September 2014, when Harper put out the Bat Signal to procure an official, personalized DCFD firefighter's helmet to shield his eyes during the clubhouse celebration after the Nationals clinched their NL East crown.

As it turns out, dreams really do come true (at least when you're Bryce Harper) because the Nats outfielder spent the day with the fine folks of Henderson Fire Station 82, the training location for firefighters in the city of Henderson, Nev.

Now all Harper needs is his own drama on FX and a theme song from the Von Bondies and he'll be all set.
