This Minor Leaguer's home run hit a moving train

Hey, remember when Nelson Cruz hit a home run onto the train tracks at Minute Maid Park? That was pretty cool, right?

Well, Courtney Hawkins of the Birmingham Barons, Double-A White Sox affiliate, smashed a home run into a moving train. Not the swishing wedding train of ballpark bride. Not the band "Train" as they walked across the concourse.

Nope, Courtney Hawkins hit an ACTUAL MOVING TRAIN with a baseball:

See, the Barons were playing against the Montgomery Biscuits, who make their home at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium. The freight is part of a single-line railroad track that runs north toward Detroit and Boston. After the game, Hawkins had this to say:

"You can actually hear it," Hawkins said of the train. "People let me know real quick. I wasn't actually trying to hit it, but when it left the bat, you can hear everybody say, 'Hit the train! hit the train!' It was pretty cool.

But are we sure this isn't actually a deleted scene from "The Natural" or the end of a lost folktale called "Paul Bunyan at the Bat?" Maybe we should watch it again to be totally sure:

TRAIN

Hey, Bryce Harper -- looks like it's time to start aiming for the Navy Yard Metro.
