Cardinals faithful brave heat for replica World Series rings

After this week, nobody can question the passion of Cardinals fans -- not that there was much doubt.

 

A day after amassing more than 8 million votes to send World Series hero David Freese to the All-Star Game, the St. Louis faithful was out to prove yet again why they're arguably baseball's best fans.

 

With temperatures reaching 106 degrees Friday, patrons lined the gates outside Busch Stadium to ensure they would receive a replica World Series ring given out prior to the game.

 

Tim O'Palka and his son, Skyler, from Springfield, Ill., had a simple response when asked about the logic behind standing in excessive heat for more than three hours: They're just that die-hard.
