Cardinals faithful braves heat for replica World Series rings

One day after amassing more than 8 million votes to send World Series hero David Freese to the All-Star Game, the St. Louis faithful was out to prove yet again why they are considered the best fans in baseball.

With temperatures reaching an excess of 106 degrees Friday, patrons lined the gates outside Busch Stadium in order to ensure they would receive a replica World Series ring given out prior to the game.

Tim O'Palka and his son, Skyler, from Springfield, Ill., had a simple response when asked for the logic behind standing in excessive heat for more than three hours: They are die-hard Cardinal fans.

Enough said.
